Our client, a prominent multinational in the trade and supply chain sector, is looking for a Senior Linux Administrator to join their global team. In this role, you'll contribute to optimising their Data Centre, Storage, and Cloud infrastructure, ensuring stability, security, and optimal performance of Linux systems. Your responsibilities will include managing Linux servers and software, configuring Data Protection platforms, collaborating with various IT teams on projects and migrations, conducting Disaster Recovery testing, and maintaining system documentation. There may be occasional travel required within Europe.


Your day to day:
  • Support the optimisation of their Data Centre, Storage, and Cloud infrastructure as directed.
  • Install, configure, and manage Linux servers, utilising automation where possible.
  • Manage Data Protection platforms including Dell Networker, Commvault, and Zerto.
  • Collaborate with various IT teams on projects, migrations, upgrades, and other activities.
  • Conduct regular Disaster Recovery (DR) testing and ensure DR procedures are up to date.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to operation teams during maintenance, support, installations, upgrades, etc.
  • Recommend and implement changes/enhancements to improve system performance.
  • Maintain documentation describing all systems, networks, and communications.
  • Stay updated on trends and best practices in Linux, Data Centre, Cloud, and related technology.
  • Evaluate and recommend new infrastructure technologies, both on-premises and Cloud.

Experience required:
 
  • 5 + years' experience in Core IT Platform Systems Administration.
  • In-depth experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux or similar Linux-based OS.
  • Strong experience with Data Protection Software such as Dell Networker, Commvault, and Zerto.
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux, Azure, and other cloud technologies.
  • Technical proficiency with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Grafana, Grey log).
  • Experience working with Hypervisors including VMware and Oracle Linux VM.
  • Knowledge of Ansible, Kickstart installation process, Shell scripting, and other Open-Source software supporting Linux OS.
  • Familiarity with backup and replication technologies (e.g., Commvault, Zerto).
  • Experience with SAN Storage Systems, Fiber Channel Switches, and San Zoning.
  • Familiarity with Data Centre and Cloud-based technologies.
  • Experience in change management, change control processes, and problem management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide timely technical support and manage risk for critical business systems.
  • Strong documentation skills and experience in establishing processes and procedures.
