Contract Senior Azure DevOps Platform Engineer - Ireland Remore (Dublin office for occasional onsite sessions)

They have an urgent requirement for a Senior Azure DevOps Platform Engineer to join a new project team on a day rate contract . As a Senior DevOps Platform Engineer you will oversee the design, implementation of a greenfield, enterprise scale, Azure based data solution.

You must have a strong background in Dev as well as Ops as there will be an equal split between these two areas on the project. So, you’ll either come from a development back ground having pivoted in DevOps, or originally from a systems engineering background and be highly proven on the development aspects of a DevOps role.

As the Azure DevOps design authority, you'll collaborate closely within a project team that includes a delivery manager, data architect (who’s leading overall solution design), a head of data and multiple data engineers. Designing and building scalable, secure and reliable cloud infrastructure. Drawing on your extensive knowledge of Azure services and tools, you'll work your magic to optimise cloud-based solutions, develop automation frameworks, and enhance the overall performance of new, data focused applications.

Here's what you'll be doing:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Internal IT stakeholders, engineers, and customer stakeholders, to ensure clear communication and understanding of business requirements. Translate these requirements into technical specifications and architectural designs.
- Develop cloud-based solutions on Azure that will contribute to the customer’s success, ranging from building small POC’s to understand the viability of new tools to owning the technical delivery of a the Azure based Data Engineering project segment.
- Build cloud infrastructure and services by partnering with Data Architects to design and implement robust applications using the latest cloud services.
- Develop, configure, manage, test and monitor Azure Cloud Services.
- Implement automation techniques to ensure continuous compliance with industry operation and security standards.
- Write code to support the safe orchestration and release of infrastructure, applications, and workloads to Azure Cloud environments.

 Following industry best practices, contribute to architectural design and the implementation of new cloud services.
- Adhere to best practices for code development, code management, including source control, pull requests, artefacts, and deployment packages.

Skills & Experience:
- A solid academic record with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or quantitative disciplines.
- 6+ years of designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting Azure cloud-based solutions in agile environments.
- A strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud and Azure Well-Architected Framework principles. Azure certifications are a must. AWS experience is desirable.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale environments.
- Experience configuring and managing Azure Data Service Offerings.
- Experience in programming and infra-automation tools, including Terraform, Cloudformation, Cloud Development Kit (Desirable) Ansible.
- Proficient in at least one high-level language - TypeScript, Python, etc.
- Experience in containers and container orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, or other relevant tools/frameworks.
- Experience with pipeline build/deploy tools such as Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
- Proficient in at least one scripting language (i.e. Bash).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business requirements and design innovative solutions.

- A demonstrated ability to take ownership of problems and find creative solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills; a team player and keen learner who loves building great things together. Presenting at senior management level technical and non-technical audiences is desirable.
- Experience in working with both business users as well as internal IT Teams
- Knowledge and experience with: Apache Airflow, DataBricks, and/or Snowflake.

You must be eligible to live and work in Ireland and must hold a Stamp 4 Visa, or EU citizenship to be the director of a limited contract for this contract engagement.
