Bilal Baker

Recruitment Consultant

I would describe myself as an outgoing and curious person who is constantly eager to learn new things and enjoys meeting new people and building meaningful connections.

Like other youngsters, I began my path with the dream of one day playing professional football in the Premier League. After 10 years’ playing football, 3 of those at national level, it was time for me to hang up my boots and concentrate on getting my degree. At some point during this period, I thought it would be worthwhile learning some self-defence and this is where I was exposed to my new passion: Muay Thai.

Like most business students, I had no idea which career path to choose to best fit my strengths. Fortunately, a fellow student, friend, and now co-worker introduced me to recruitment in my final year of my degree. After doing my research, I realised that the recruitment industry, particularly the IT sector, piqued my interest and I decided to take a leap of faith. After meeting with Matthew and Karl and seeing their enthusiasm for recruitment, their emphasis on doing recruitment properly, and their long-term goals for Talentspot, I knew this would be the perfect opportunity for me to use my existing skills and acquire new ones to maximum potential.

Outside of work, you’ll find me training Muay Thai or working out at my gym. Also, it's worth noting that I haven't fully abandoned football; on weekends, I manage a small football academy where I help youngsters improve not just their football abilities, but also their confidence and self-esteem off the field.
